It’s me! Do you remember me? I wouldn’t blame you if you didn’t. It’s been quite some time. I became a social recluse again. Yes, old habits die hard. Sometimes when I’m overwhelmed, I don’t know what else to do, besides hide. I was hibernating until someone grabbed me out of the dark and gave me the opportunity of a life time.
Remso Martinez wanted me to review his new book, How to Succeed in Politics (and Other Forms of Devil Worship). Do you know who Remso Martinez is?! If you’re thinking about the journalist, new media producer, an Amazon bestselling author, and now, current Social Media Coordinator for The Washington Times– we are thinking about the same person. While it’s nice to have friends in high places, the following thoughts are my own and not biased or influenced by others (*cough* Remso *cough*).
How to Succeed in Politics (and Other Forms of Devil Worship) follows a young professional named Art. He’s a Political Consultant hopping from one campaign to another. On his way to build his career, he’s faced with ethical dilemma, shitty people, and the age ole question, “WHO AM I?” Yes, this book is based around conservative politics, but don’t let it scare you away. In this book, you’ll see what happens when the line between work/life balance is extremely blurred, money controls every decision, and where your mind goes when you combine sleep deprivation with a fuck ton of alcohol.
What I liked most about this book is not only the intricate story line, it’s a history lesson. Martinez does great job showing another, less known, side to George Wallace. I’ll be honest. I never really cared to investigate George Wallace’s life before reading this book. I still don’t, but I’m not ignorant to the good man he was, even though he’s made some horrible decisions and mistakes in his career.
I’d like to end this post with Remso, I’m so proud to be your friend. Thanks for having faith in me. Thanks for trusting me not to steal your manuscript as my own. All I’ve ever wanted in life is to surround myself with beautiful minds and I’m so happy you let me take a jab at yours.
Please do yourself a favor, do my homie a favor and pick up a copy of his book. Here’s the link! I MADE IS SO EASY FOR YOU!
Well friends, I guess I’m back in action now so…
